70’s Sleek and Chic! Angelica Houston and Jack Nicholson were the epitome of glamour and style in the 1970’s. Their looks were simple and classically American and were no doubt the inspiration for many of the looks on this season’s runways.
John Galliano has been a controversial figure in fashion over the years, but Galliano of the 90’s is what made me fall in love with fashion. It wasn’t just fashion, it was art, it had a story, a mood, and transported you to a different time and place. It was magical and Galliano will always have a special place in my heart and will always be one of my favorites.
I just about died when I first saw this spread in Vogue’s Sept 2010 issue. Vogue got this one 100% right. Not only did the magazine bring attention to one of the most inventive performance artists, Nick Cave, but used his fantastic creations to showcase the season’s latest accessories. This was an amazing combination of fashion and art that worked so well and was so outside the box.
So many looks this season reminded me of these marvelous ‘monsters’ that I decided to throw together a lookbook of some of my favorite creations.
