Art DirectionFor the launch of Heraldry, a tile collection inspired by the decorative traditions of Renaissance castles, cloisters and manors, I developed a visual concept that placed the collection back into the world that inspired it—while giving the imagery a contemporary, editorial point of view.
I conceptualized, planned and art directed the shoot, sourcing Renaissance portraiture and reproducing the works at large scale to mimic the presence and texture of painted canvases. Tiles were layered directly over the portraits, creating a playful dialogue between pattern, color and historical ornament while highlighting the collection’s heraldic motifs.
The resulting imagery feels part still life, part portraiture: an unexpected way to communicate the collection’s historical references without relying on a traditional interiors setting.
